Scott Brown is the Administrative Specialist for the Language Program Office, dividing his efforts across the many initiatives, institutes, and programs that comprise the LPO. He is an alumni of the South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI), having studied Elementary Bengali in 2015 and Advanced Hindi in 2017. In addition to these summers of language classes, he also studied Hindi as part of his masters’ training at the University of Colorado Boulder, and received summer and academic year fellowships to study Bengali abroad at the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) in West Bengal, India. Before his graduate studies he completed a B.A., double majoring in Religion and Sociology with an emphasis in Women’s Studies, from Texas Christian University in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. He needs to better practice his Bengali, Hindi and Spanish skills (and is always looking for conversation partners), and hopes to one day add more languages to his roster (with his eyes most set on Japanese and Greek). He is an avid fan of classic horror films, Japanese monster movies, and his mischievous cat, an orange tabby named Newton.
